It acts as a natural tranquilizer and is said to dispel rage, help manage fear and anger, and calm rage or anxiety.
Amethyst can convert lower vibrations to higher frequencies, which then transforms negative energy to love energy. This crystal also works with the Crown or Seventh Chakra, which is located at the top of the head, acting like a crown as it radiates upwards. This creates a connection between Mother Earth and the Universe.

Today, 5k to 10k tons of amethyst is mined globally each year. Apart from that amethyst value depends on the various factors of its clarity and size.
History
Because of its wine-like colour, early Greek legends associated amethyst with Dionysus, the god of wine and pleasure. The Romans called him Bacchus. Amethyst was a young virgin who became the object of wrath of the Greek God Dionysus after he became intoxicated with red wine.
Because amethyst was associated with wine, it was believed that wearing amethyst prevented drunkenness.
